SEND
This provides guidance to schools and parents about meeting the needs of pupils. Staff in school will work with parent/carers guiding them and informing them of any additional work they may need to do to support children and identify their strengths. If they need additional help, they will be assessed in school.
In September 2014 the government introduced a single category called ‘SEND support’.
People who may support children with additional needs:
SENCo
Co-ordinates SEND provision for children. At St. Michael’s, our SENCo is Mrs M Spires who supports the North Hub ATLP Primary schools.
Class Teachers
They will always make sure that appropriate work is given to your child to meet their needs and ability
Teaching Assistants
They support your children in class and alo offer additional support through Maths, Literacy, Phonics, Life skills support.
Psychologist
Will come into school to carry out assessments for children who have additional needs
Speech and Language Therapist
Works regularly with school and can tell you if your child needs additional assessment or support
Outreach Support
We work with agencies that specialise in children with additional needs and they can provide us with help and resources
St. Michael’s Primary SEND Information Report
The SEND Information Report is a local offer of all services available to support disabled children and children with SEND and their families. It will let parents/ carers and young people know how a school or college will support them. The following 14 questions were devised in consultation with parents/carers and other agencies and reflect their concerns and interests. Below are St. Michael’s Primary School’s current responses to these questions. At St. Michael’s Primary School we are continually looking to improve the provision for our pupils. To this end the information in these responses will be regularly reviewed and updated as necessary.
The full SEND Information Report can be found below:
If you would like to know what provision is in place in school for your child or need any help because you are worried about your child you can contact school and we can make you an appointment with our Inclusion Manager.
